Staying True to Oneself

How is your journey of life coming along? Do you remind yourself to look at the positive things happening around you? Are you allowing your mind to be open and embrace changes? I know you are, I believe in you. I know if you are reading this post, you are trying your best to stay true to yourself.

Talking about Perspective, we all use this common cliché of  “glass being half filled or half empty” to show how we might have different views for the same event. Just like different people can hold their meaning for the same word, love might just be a likeness for someone, whereas for someone, it can mean a sincere devotion.

There is a Sufi fable about two fakeers who returned to their home after a long journey and preaching people about god. When they returned to their house, they saw half of the roof was gone because of the storm. First, Fakeer started crying, “Look what God has done to our house, we were out and singing his name, and he could not even protect our house, he does not care about us.”  Second, Fakeer looked up at the sky with folded hands. “Thank you, Lord, for stopping the storm, which could have blown away the whole roof. Thank you for saving our half roof.”

The thing to notice is how these two persons are different from each other because of their perspective only. One is looking at the half roof, which is fallen on the ground, and the other is looking at the roof, which is still on the house. One is blaming god, and the other is singing glory for saving their roof.

Same with the concept of life, love, passion, family, devotion, religion, god –  all of us hold different meanings. Whatever way you choose to reach your faith, the essence is staying true to oneself and following our intuition. Looking at the brighter side, focusing our thoughts and energy on creating something beautiful.

Love and Sunshine!
