Ghalib was an Urdu poet whose writings has emotions freely flowing towards an unknown sea of beings. Ghalib once said,”Manzar ek bulandi par aur hum bana sakte; Arsh se udhar hota, kash ke makan apna!” Translation – I would have been able to see at new heights if I had a house (high place) on the other side of the sky.
No one can accurately explain what state of mind Ghalib was when he wrote these lines. So, his words can be interpreted differently according to one’s imagination. Well, it is true that we all are surrounded by mirrors and see ourselves (our perspective) everywhere and in everyone. The image we see in mirrors is a projection of our mind.
When I read these lines, I interpreted them according to my state of mind, which was….Human eye’s vision is still limited, no matter how far we can see. I wish I were capable enough to see beyond the skies.
The human being (except enlightened ones) have so many unanswered questions, even though we think we can see stars, but there are many lands above that. With our limited senses and capabilities, we still believe that we know everything and have mastered every concept of life. Most of our religious books have different theories about origin and end of life. Some talk about heaven-hell, reincarnations, Karma, the cycle of life, judgment day, etc. Has anyone seen what is going on there? I have not yet, and when I reach this edge of my incapability, all I can say is “Manzar ek bulandi par aur hum bana sakte; Arsh se udhar hota, kash ke makan apna.” Ghalib once told us.
