Voicing Our Opinion

Voicing our opinion requires awareness. Awareness is not only a one-time act. It is usually throughout the life process, a person’s awareness is reflected through one’s day-to-day acts and words. This is what we often hear from many people around us, and even we say this “I don’t care, or I don’t want to get involve in this” Scenarios and situations where we use these statements might be different according to our level of ignorance. For example, if a person is doing something wrong just take a spelling mistake and bystander knows it and just thinking how will it affect me. This is minor ignorance since it will not affect the first person’s harshly and eventually, he will understand. But if the same person is preparing for an exam, then this mistake might make him lose a point, and that point could be one passing mark or merit grade. Now think about the role of a bystander who knew about the spelling mistake.

Well, these are just day-to-day examples. However, there are accidents where life-death situations are severely involved. People will just watch unless it will not affect their life personally. This act is as the city is burning into flames, but I am sleeping in my house thinking that at least my house is safe. But for how long it will stay safe?

Take an example of a human body, if a toenail is infected, can we just ignore it since our arms or legs are ok?  We will try to fix the infection so that it will not affect our whole body. Because it is evident if one let it be, it will eventually affect the rest of the body. It reminds me of a story from my school book “Rotten Apple.”

Well, questions that are always stuck in my mind about social playgoers, Is this what is called moral sleep? How does one face oneself in the mirror after being a regular witness of disorders? Does it feel that our existence is similar to an object?

In reality, it is a conditional non-interfering nature. If a matter is of one’s interest, one will voluntarily take part in it. However, when the question is about courage, values, morals, justice, and humanity – It will be simply filed under “non-interference.”

From social to religious books it has been mentioned thousand times, “More than an offender, the person who tolerates the injustice is more guilty.” We need to listen to our conscience to voice our opinion.

While sleeping in our house when the whole city is burning down, never forget that fire will reach at our door one day – could be in a worse form.
