Are You Addicted to Solitude?

The term addiction is used to describe a recurring compulsion by an individual to engage in some particular activity.

SOLITUDE sometimes could be an addiction, and it is worse than all other addictions. For other addictions, you need an external substance or person to depend on upon. But solitude, no-one else is involved just your being. Other addictions can be given up by taking that substance or involvement away. However, you can’t take your own being away when you are addicted to solitude. Once you are addicted to solitude, it is impossible to relate to anyone. You do not belong to anyone and no-one belongs to you. Sometimes being a loner makes you think that you getting close to yourself or your being, but also you are going away from all other beings. Unlike other addictions, where typically is immediate gratification, Solitude lures you towards it for a long-term. Try to find a balance between solitude and your relationships. Do not make another wait for an extended period just because you are getting comfortable with being a loner. Solitude just like other aspects of our life requires a balance.
